Ross Noble: Fizzy Logic

And we continue on with the Ross Noble inspired nails...This time it's Fizzy Logic. This design is more inspired by his shirt than the set itself.

This was a perfect excuse to use my round studs.

Black Stripes: Ross Noble's Nobleism

While I was in London I would put the TV on while I was putting on my makeup every morning. Dave quickly became my favorite channel, and they were playing reruns of Qi. Ross Noble was a guest on one of the episodes. He is absolutely hilarious! I've been watching all of his shows since I've been back. So be prepared for quite a few Ross Noble inspired nail designs. He has pretty ridiculous sets that are quite perfect for nail art.

This design is inspired by the background from his Nobleism show from 2009. I've been wanting to do black nails for awhile now, so this was perfect.

Doctor Who Union Jack Nails

Can you guess where I am?
I'm currently in London! Yay! I'm here for the 2014 World Irish Dance Competition. My sister and cousin are both competing again this year. These are the nails that I'm wearing on the plane.

Oh yes! I am a huge nerd and have 10's sonic screwdriver.

Irish Dance inspired nails

This is my cousin's Irish Dance vest. Last year he placed fourth at the World Irish Dance Competition in his age group. This year I was asked to design his new vest. His previous vest had swirly patterns that went from red to orange to yellow. They were reminiscent of flames, which he really liked. This time  he wanted red and gold and black for the colors. So I took the flame idea and turned them into graphic bold shapes. I really like the way it turned out.

When we received the vest, it had to be altered and then blinged out. So my aunt and I hand placed and glued all of the crystals on the front and back of the vest. We did the gold crystals back in November when we received the vest, but my aunt wanted to add a bit more for the World Competition, which is coming up in April. So this week I spent about 5 hours placing and gluing the red crystals in the flames. I'm a bit crystal obsessed right now.

So because of I've been staring at this vest for so long I decided to do a nail look based on it. It didn't turn out as neatly as I would like, as I'm still getting used to the Migi Nail Art Pens. But I thought I'd share it with you anyway.

I think I might try this design again, and hopefully it will turn out neater that this. I would recommend using Seche Vite top coat with the Migi Nail Art Pens. I've never had a problem with the polish smearing when I put the Seche Vite top coat, but with the Qtica you can see it smeared quite a bit.

Divergent Series: Dauntless Fire

These are the nails I wore when I went to see the movie. I thought it was really good! The casting was really great, and even though they changed some things I totally understood why they did. I think the ending was quite good, although I have yet to read the next book, so that opinion might change. And Theo James...lovely as per usual.

But it was cool to see so much of Chicago in the film. They kept most of the references in that only people who live or have visited Chicago would know. I thought that was a nice touch. But on to the nails!

Divergent Series: Dauntless

I'm so excited for the Divergent movie to come out. I've only read the first book, but I've got the next two sitting on my bookshelf right now. When I was reading the book I imagined that the Dauntless faction would wear a ton of leather, not only because it's black and looks cool, but also because during a fight it can add a bit of protection. So I tried out Chalkboard Nail's perforated leather technique and it worked perfectly. I also used the spatter technique to create some blood spatter on my ring finger. I think these nails really embody the Dauntless vibe.

Small Interval...and Coraline!

I really want to give you guys an accurate review of the Nailed It! wraps from Espionage Cosmetics, and in my excitement I didn't prepare any designs for the week I tested them out. So unfortunately I don't have any nail designs for you, but instead....

I'm currently working on a piece for the Laika Coraline contest. You can find more information on the contest on their Facebook page. I decided to create a fashion illustration inspired by the film. I really like the button eyes in this because they give a really creepy dead vibe. I'll post the final piece once I finish.

Review: Nailed It by Espionage Cosmetics UPDATE

I saw a post on Fashionably Geek back in August promoting Espionage Cosmetics' Nailed It! Kickstarter campaign, and of course I needed to invest in these. As you can probably guess, I pledged a large(ish) sum, and it was totally worth it!

Valentine Series: French Hearts

For some reason, I'm obsessed with french manicure designs. I'm not one for just a straight french tip, but throw in some color, or cool accent and I'm in love. It works really well for Valentine designs because the french tips scream "fancy," but the accents really make it fun. This is great for the day at school or work, and for date night.

Tangled Inspired Nails

Tangled is one of my absolute favorite Disney movies. I didn't go to see it when it first came out but when I did see it, I rewatched it about five times in the next week. The characters are great, the songs were good, it was super funny…there is nothing bad about this movie. I watched it again this weekend and decided to do a nail look for it.

Purple Flocking

I tried the flocking fad. While in England i got a set that came with nail polish and matching flocking. Not one of my favorites, I have to admit. But it lasted remarkably well, which I wasn't expecting. And it helped that the set, which came with the nail varnish and the flocking, was only £2.

Black Matte with Swarovski Crystals

These nails were designed to match a pair of heels. I had a party to go to and I had these heels with a little black dress. I thought it looked very cool. The rhinestones were really impractical, especially because I have very curved nails, so they didn't sit flush with my nails. Even though I put a ton of glue on, they came of very easily. I only had about half left after the party. It was very cool though.

*Using the Ciaté Glitter: I put my base coat on and while it was still wet I sprinkled the glitter on, like you would if it was glue. Tap off the excess glitter. I waited for that to dry and then I put top coat on and then sprinkled another layer of glitter on while it was still wet. You could put a top coat on to seal it in, but the glitter sticks very well without, and it sparkles much nicer without a topcoat. Also the glitter will stick to the brush of your top coat, so wipe it off after each nail, so you do not contaminate the whole bottle.
