Weekly Nails: Tinkerbell

For Earth Day Zoya had a nail special. I kinda went crazy, and in that order I got one of the Zoya PixieDust polishes. I have to say, I didn't think much of them from what I'd seen, but I absolutely love them now. I had this on for a week and it didn't chip at all! I'm going to have to pick up a few more.

TARDIS string lights

I saw these awhile ago on ThinkGeek, but they are always sold out, so when I saw them at Hottopic.com I had to get them. It didn't hurt I had Hot Cash. They are super fun. They currently have them at ThinkGeek so grab them before they are gone.

Weekly Nails: Rounded Nails

My nails are super long now, and they were starting to bug me, so before I cut them I decided to try out a new shape. Inspired by Amelia Pond, I created a super rounded shape. I'm not in love with them, but I'll give them a go for a bit longer.

Weekly Nails: Gold Studs

Continuing on the stud theme....Round gold studs. I wanted to experiment with them, to see how they lay and how well they stay on at the edge of my nails. Its not too summery, but I like the way it came out. I definitely recommend using a topcoat over the studs. Without it they are very dull. I really wanted my ring finger to look more like armor, but it doesn't. I think I'll try layering them next time.

What I used:

Orly Nail Defense (base)
Zoya in Ziv
Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in Blazing Blue
Gold Studs
Seche Vite Topcoat

UPDATE:
These are one week later...the gold rubbed off of some of the studs. On the upside, I only lost one stud between both hands. Not too shabby!

Weekly Nails: Dive into Summer

I was super excited for the Zoya Earth Day deal. Hopefully you all took major advantage of that, $4 per bottle! I almost died from excitement. I got 13 bottles. I will swatch them eventually, but I was super stoked for their summer line. Especially for the orange glitter (this is my 5th orange glitter polish...its a problem) named Amy. Its perfect..."Come along Pond." It is amazingly opaque for a glitter. I used only two coats without a white base for the tips and tail. However, as you can see, it is quite thick for french tips. I used it on my toes though and it wasn't as thick. It's a really great true orange.

I apologize for the state of my cuticles. I've been using something at work that is irritating them like no other! Gotta love them chemicals. Yay art!
Mermaids are fun!

Weekly Nails: A Nightmare in Silver

The season finale of Doctor Who is tomorrow night, and I figured I should drown my sorrows in a cute nail design. I absolutely LOVED last week's episode A Nightmare in Silver, written by Neil Gaiman. Matt Smith was absolutely fantastic! This is now my second favorite episode (the first is The Doctor's Wife, also written by Gaiman). I already re-watched it twice...I know, I know, my geek is showing.

I was drawn to the cyber-accessory they put on Matt Smith. It was so streamlined and beautiful, like the evolved Cybermen. That was the main inspiration for this design. I picked out several elements from the cyber-accessory for the main design. (Above is the image I used for reference)

Weekly Nails: Green and Black Studs

I've been seeing these nail studs for quite awhile now, and I absolutely love how they look. I finally got the package a couple of weeks ago, and was super excited to play with them. I got the pseudo-pyramid studs, my favorite type of stud. I was inspired by one of the designs I found on pinterest. I love the way it turned out.

The Doctor Who references will never end.

Drawing Men!

I recently got promoted to full time at the library I work at, and as result could quit working at the Gap. The Gap is a great company to work for, and I had amazing managers, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs a part time job. However working seven days a week is not fun, and I've been burnt out for awhile now. I'm looking forward to working on some real illustrations finally.

These are a couple of sketches I did today after work. I forgot how much I love to draw men! These are both done with only a papermate lead pencil and a kneaded eraser.

And sunglasses.....I love drawing them too, The hair isn't what I'd like, but I can live with it.

Weekly Nails: Neutral Polka Dots

I finally got ahold of my absolute favorite nude polish, China Glaze in Inner Beauty, and I desperately wanted to use it, so this is what happened. I didn't really like the way this looked on my nails, so I ended up taking it off, however looking at the picture I think I was just in the mood for a dark polish this week.
