Weekly Nails: Doctor Who Series: 11th Doctor (again...)

So these past two weeks were a complete fail. Sorry about that. Two weeks ago I lost my camera, completely disappeared, along with the rest of the cameras in my house. Last week was just an epic fail at nail art. I tried to do the Cyber Leader, from series six, and it came out just terribly. I'm still debating on whether to just post it, or redo it. Not sure yet, so after I took off the Cyber design, I did another Matt Smith inspired design. Mainly because I ordered a pair of red suspenders (I'm such a nerd). I'll do a fashion post once I get that outfit together.

This is another French Manicure with a Whovian twist. Its not explicitly a Doctor Who design, it can also be another twist on the Tuxedo Nails, made popular by Zooey Deschanel. If you really wanted to go full-on Doctor, you could add the ticks from The Silence design I did a couple of weeks ago.

What I used:
Orly Nail Defense (base)
ORLY French Manicure in Pink Nude (This is a great color, bit it is super streaky, I had to put on 4 coats to get it this opaque. I'd recommend China Glaze in Inner Beauty instead. Similar color, much better formula)
Orly French Tips in White Tips
Zoya in Elisa (bowtie and suspenders)
StripeRite in Black
Seche Vite Top Coat

Fantastic Photoshop Tutorial by PsdTuts+

Tuts+ is one of my absolute favorite sites to go to when I need inspiration, or to learn new techniques with the Adobe products. I mainly use VectorTuts+, which mainly covers Illustrator. They have really great tutorials. The format they use is really easy to follow and very comprehensive. The screenshots they include are the best I've seen. I highly recommend these sites to anyone who uses the Adobe programs.

This is one of the best Photoshop tutorials I've found. Ever. Its really great. Head over to PsdTuts+ to see the full tutorial.

Valentine Lace Nails

Let me just preface this by saying, the execution on this is absolute rubbish. It came out so terrible. I used StripeRite in Black to do the detail work, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Although I love StripeRite to death, doing any type of round shape is nearly impossible. For this design I'd strongly recommend using a nail art pen. I'm posting this so you can have the general design, which I still think would be cute, with a better execution.

I also picked the crapest nail polish for this. I had to use six coats to get this color. It was ridiculous! The color doesn't show up as well in the photos though, it's a much more pastel pink than nude.

What I used:
Orly Nail Defense
Revlon in Pink Chiffon
StripeRite in Black
Seche Vite Top Coat

Weekly Nails: Doctor Who: The Silence Will Fall

The Silence are one of my favorite enemies of the Doctor. I love how they erase themselves, its just a cool idea. I also love how the design of the characters was inspired by the Munch's The Scream. I saw this pin on Pinterest. I liked the idea, but I had to add my own little twist.

One thing I have to say is, lining up your middle finger and your thumb is quite hard. I knew that going into this design, but I wanted the head to be a bit bigger, so I went ahead and used my middle fingernail for it.  I also really love how the french manicure turned out. I'm really really pleased with how this design turned out.
