Iron Man Wears Makeup?

I'm super sad I didn't see this video before I saw the movie last night. Iron Man 2...not the best movie, but Robert Downey Jr. is super hot, so I enjoyed it. Its really a fluff movie, so if your looking for something light and fun and full of action this is pretty good.

Retro Nails

This design was created by MadamLuck on youtube (video below). Its a really great design and you can use any color you want. These photos don't do the green color I used justice. It was a really beautiful sea green (OPI Gargantuan Green Grape)

Mad Hatter Inspired Nails

I was actually  inspired by the crazy colorfulness of this eye shadow look done by goldiestarling (video below). She has some really great colorful looks. Head over to her youtube channel for some more inspiration and tutorials!

1920's Fashion Illustrations for the Niles Public Library District

I was asked by one of the librarians who was in charge of the 'Big Read' program to put up a 1920's fashion display. There were some dresses and accessories from the 20's lent to us by some of the staff.

All the illustrations are graphite

The Masquerade

This was an illustration I did for my Visual Critical Studies: Girls on Film class. We talked a lot about the masquerade and the idea that women are constantly performing different gender rolls given to us throughout history. I was inspired to do this piece when I came across the Moretta mask during my research. The idea that this mask was the 'epitome of feminine beauty' and the woman wearing couldn't even talk....it was astounding. This mask literally turns the woman into a doll....she has no individuality, no say in anything literally. It was just really appalling. I did a sort of fashionable rendering of this idea. I really enjoy this piece.

This piece was made in Adobe Photoshop and is 20in wide.

Jack Strify Viva La Wonderland Party

The party took place in Russia on April

Untamed Menagerie

So I learned of this Etsy store from Petrilude on youtube (see his video HERE). I absolutely love silhouettes (as you might have realized from my animation) and this jewelry is absolutely stunning. They do a ton of 'Alice in Wonderland' inspired pieces which I love. Most of their work is made with brushed stainless steel. All of their work is custom order, so it takes up to 3 weeks before they are able to ship it to you. Also (IMPORTANT!) they put up one item at a time (what this means is that only one of the items is available to purchase, so if someone orders one, the listing will dissappear) so if you don't see what you are looking for....wait a day or two and it will be available to purchase again. If you don't see what you want for a week or two, contact them and they will let you know whats up. *Please be polite and respectful, don't bombard them constantly, they are cool people and will get back to you shortly.

I saw this necklace and had to get it. Its a lotus flower...Hello Nana! (My favorite manga!)

These two items remind me of the white rabbit, from 'Alice in Wonderland' which I love. Its super cute.

And of course my favorite quote ever.

Kindergarten Projects

Today I went with my mom to school and helped out with some big projects. Since Mother's Day is this weekend the kids were making projects to give as gifts to their moms. They made gift bags, cards and pins.

So first the kids made bags to put their gifts in.

Then the kids made melty pins. They took beads and put them into tiny clear plastic cups and then we put them in a toaster oven to watch them melt.

They turned out really great. I remember making this in my kindergarten class.

Then the kids made their cards. On the inside they say "You are my cup of tea" and on the front they have tea cups glued on only around the bottom so they can put tea bags in the cup to give to their moms.

They're so cute. They have 'steamy hearts' ahah.
