Random Sketch

This is just a random sketch I did because I was bored last night at this party I was at. It wasn't too bad, because I had a little drawing buddy, who was 4 :)

This is what my buddy drew for me, 'Its a pen, cuz I'm good a drawing'. What a cutie :)

Eddie Izzard Quote of the Day

“But then the Roman Empire fell like this- "oh shit". And we went into
what the historians called the Stupid Fucker period. Where everyone
was going -"er, I dunno. Is that a Roman road? Can we eat it?" Then
there was the dark Ages. " I can't even see you! Where are you?"”

Eddie Izzard Quote of the Day

Cool Typefaces

I'm taking a typography class this semester and as an assignment we have to create a journal with entries of interesting typefaces we find. So I figured why not share it with you lovely people :P Ill be making posts quite randomly I feel.

These books caught my eye at work:

They're books, by Claudia Gray. I haven't actually read the books yet, but I saw the covers and just had to check out the amazing typeface.

Starting a New Fashion Illustration Piece

So I started a new fashion illustration piece. I'm planning to do it in watercolor and pencil. This is just the rough sketch. I think her left shoulder is a bit to large, and her arm is weird, and also her torso is too long..but other than that its ok.

Below are the images I'm using as reference for the outfit. They're from the Dsquared2 Spring Summer 2010 RTW Collection. I'm swapping out the shoes for the ones in the second image, because I just like them better....even though they'll be a pain to illustrate :P
Below are reference images I'm using for the pose. (Already I'm breaking my vow not to use Bill Kaulitz in my illustrations anymore....but its ok, its just for the pose) I just like the way his legs are positioned.

Eddie Izzard Quote of the Day

“But with dogs, we do have “bad dog.” Bad dog exists. “Bad dog! Bad dog! Stole a biscuit, bad dog!” The dog is saying, “Who are you to judge me? You human beings who’ve had genocide, war against people of different creeds, colors, religions, and I stole a biscuit?! Is that a crime? People of the world!”

“Well, if you put it that way, I think you’ve got a point. Have another biscuit, sorry.””

Eddie Izzard Quote

“MAC gave me 55 lipsticks to test. These are the same lipsticks I got caught stealing by the police when I was 15. How ironic.”

Jeremy Tankard~ Illustrator

He just does really great work. He is also the author of several children's books. My favorite one he wrote is called 'Me Hungry'. I read it to a kindergarten class and they loved it. They thought it was really funny and gave it two big thumbs up. His newest book is called 'Boo Hoo Bird' and the kids love that as well. Check out his website HERE or his blog HERE.

The Beginning of the End Animated Storyboards

This is the animated storyboards of a short film I've been working on since last spring.

There are some animated bits in to see how they will possibly fit in the final piece. I think right now it's a good length for a short film.

All visual work is done by me.

The audio is spliced together (by me) from the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 'Peter Pan', composed by James Newton Howard, ©2005 Universal Studios.

Zoot....animation

Morphing Claymation

This is the first animation I ever did. I kind of love it :P

Zoot & Zink...another animation of mine

Mermaid Animation

Animation set up:
This is where I spend many of my days...slowly animating paper puppets. One of these days I'll do a post on how to make these silhouette puppets.

So, the GL2 camera is on a camera stand facing downwards. I used layers of vellum to create the shadowy background on the first layer. Then there are 2 panes of glass for each of the mermaids, and another layer for the water ripples above them. Then the whole thing is back lit with a mini light table.

Then to animate I use the program called iStopmotion, from Boinx Software. You can get it HERE for only $50, which is super cheap for a program. It works with all video cameras, but for still cameras you have to check their list of approved cameras (and to animate smoothly with a still camera you have to have a remote, because if you don't every time you take a picture it moves the camera and you animation comes out all jittery, which you don't want). I set the frame rate to 24 frames per second (because it is the typical animation frame rate, however you can set the frame rate to what ever you want).

Here is the unedited footage I shot that day

The $74,000 Balmain Jacket

The $74,000 Balmain Jacket

fashion magazine

fashion magazine
Balmain is probably the only brand with the cojones to release a $74,000 crocodile skin jacket in our current economy. This deadly delicious coat could be yours if you’re daddy is Bill Gates or you recently found Uncle Bernie’s secret Ponzi-stash. Jesus, I can’t even say much about this, expect that if you own one and need a new best friend to tell you how awesome you are, I’m your blogger.

Would totally buy one of these too, but figured it would need 99.9% off for me to even consider it. You’re listening Gilt?
You can purchase this insane jacket online, here.
This jacket is absolutely Amazing! Unfortunately it is made with crocodile skin, which I oppose, so I'd never purchase it (if I evrer could).

Illamasqua Blogs about Bill Kaulitz & DSquared2

I would like to make the statement that I am not a follower of fashion in the literal sense that I am overtly influenced by the designers of Paris/Milan/London and New York in the clothes choices that I make for myself. I believe in being true to yourself and adopting your own personal style. I do, however, make time a couple of times a year to see what [via vogue.co.uk and style.com] the designers are sending down the catwalks - I live with a fashion buyer and a very fashion conscious latina, so it's always a fun thing to pour over the latest collections and predict the trends that we think will be all over the high street in the following months.

As you may be aware, the Fashion Weeks are limbering up and so far, so pretty uneventful - although I did spot this rather fabulous image courtesy of the DSquared2 show in Milan last night.
